½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï Leaders Share Updates With Alumni
½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï On The Road sessions focus on diversity and inclusion, strategic planning, and presidential search.
In a series of sessions through the fall and winter, Acting President Hugh Porter and Dean for Institutional Diversity Mary James went on the road to provide alumni with an inside look at some important campus issues, including diversity and inclusion, college priorities, and the presidential search.
Dean James explored the idea of “access” in higher education as being more than an acceptance letter, a scholarship, and a seat in a classroom. True access, she argued, is to receive the necessary inspiration and support to master disciplinary skills, acquire academic savvy, and develop a strong sense of belonging both within the ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï community and within one’s chosen discipline.
The cities in the “½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï on the Road” tour included New York, Washington, D.C., Seattle, San Francisco, and Portland.

½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï On The Road will resume in the spring with Alice Harra, Associate Dean of Students, and Director of the Center For Life Beyond ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï.
Student success in higher education extends beyond access and affordability of college. Professional development, alongside ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï's intellectual development, enhances students' clarity, confidence, skills, and connections to pursue work they love. Rather than a traditional career center, ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï's Center for Life Beyond ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï is focused on developmental strategies for exploring one's purpose while at ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï. Alice Harra, Director of Center for Life Beyond ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï, will share what students can do to prepare for their lives beyond ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï, and how ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï alumni are influencing every field of endeavor. Your participation will be welcome as you share your work and purpose with us, too.
